The price of braids: what you pay for and why

The price of braids depends on the technique, braid size, length and services included. To compare two quotes, check whether both include extension hair, washing and taking down your previous braids.

A braider and a woman with box braids talking beside a notebook in a dark salon.

A similar look. Different work.

Thick box braids seen from behind, with the sections at the roots visible.

Fewer, thicker braids

With the same length and technique, there are fewer sections to part and braid.

Fine box braids seen from behind in a matching comparison view.

More braids, more detail

Smaller sections mean more braids to work on. Extra length or loose curls also change the service.

The photo helps describe the look. Confirm the time and price for your hair and chosen design.

The work

Technique, sections, length and finish. A photo helps, but it cannot describe the whole appointment.

The materials

Check who supplies the extension hair, which type it is and whether it is included.

What is included

Washing, drying, taking down old braids or accessories: check what costs extra.

How to work out the cost of braids

This example uses 4 hours at €20 per hour and €25 for materials: €105 in total. These are made-up figures to try the calculator, not a salon price. If you braid hair, enter your own figures; if you are booking, confirm the quote with your braider.
