Straight cornrows for men

Straight-back cornrows for men follow scalp-hugging rows from the forehead to the nape. Compare an even width, alternating thick and fine rows, or three more prominent central braids.

Medium rows The parallel rows repeat a medium width. Notice how they reach the nape and where the ends stop: that finish is part of the design too.

Thick and fine rows Wide rows alternate with fine braids. All run backwards, while the contrast in width gives the pattern its rhythm.

Three central rows Three thick braids occupy the centre, with finer rows grouped at the sides. The front view shows this arrangement.

What to decide before choosing your cornrows

  • Row width and row count are two separate choices. Use the photo to explain the look you like; the sectioning is adapted to your hair.
  • Sides: these references show braids at the sides. If you have a fade, show where the hair you want braided starts and ends.
  • Nape: decide whether you want short ends or braids continuing further down. Front and back views explain the complete look better.

Prefer braids that hang loose around your face? See short box braids for men: they are braided in individual sections rather than rows attached to the scalp.
